Whitney, Alex, and Neeraj -
You can find the artifacts you will be discussing on the ihsfa.org website. About half way down the screen on the right hand side, you will see a link for Discussion Artifacts for Sectional Speech Meet.
There will be prelims and a final for the Saturday......meaning you have the opportunity to be in four discussion rounds and the top 6 entries will move on to state.

Extemp information for Sectionals
Nicole, Arjun and Megan ---
The topics for your first three rounds are: Midterm elections, US Economy, and Education.
If you make it to the finals (which 6 out of 10 entries will), your final round topic will be Democrats and their President.
The three of you have the potential for giving four speeches on Saturday....with a new draw for each speech.
Gracie and Naveen ---
You win - congratulations, you are both going to state! However, you will speak once to determine your placing in a final round. Your topic will be Europe (Germany, Bosnia, France, Greece, England). Your round will take place at 830am with a draw at 8am. Naveen, this means you will be done for the entire day at 9:15am -- so you may want to consider getting a ride home or you are welcome to stay and watch your teammates.

Information for Sectionals next week
Matt and I spent the day setting up the Sectional Speech tournament.....here is what you need to know. The following is the number of entries in each event:
Broadcasting- 6
Dec - 12
Discussion - 17
DI - 8
Mem Duo - 10
Scripted Duo - 14
HI - 10
Impromptu - 14
IX - 6
OO - 10
OP - 15
Poetry - 18

USX - 9
The events with 6 or fewer competitors will only compete in a final round and are automatically qualified for state. So congratulations Braidon, Gracie, and Naveen - you are our first three state qualifiers! :)
The events (Dec, Mem Duo, Scripted Duo, HI, Impromptu, OO, OP, and USX) with 16 or fewer entries will compete in three prelim rounds and a final round.
The events with 17 or more entries (Discussion, Poetry, and Prose) will compete in prelim rounds, semi-final rounds, and a final round. So those of you in these events will have a very long day!
The top six speakers from each event qualify for state!
In other news, we are the second biggest team at the tournament by far --- we have 27 entries, Warren has 40 entries and the closest other team to us is Perry Meridian who is bringing 20 entries. So.....we are posed to do very well this coming weekend as long as you practice, get sleep, and keep yourself healthy!
Anna will be posting radio, USX, and IX information later today on the blog! Keep watching for more information.
REMEMBER! TUESDAY'S MORNING MEETING IS VERY IMPORTANT THIS WEEK - PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE THERE AND ON TIME!
